Can anyone explain the difference between splitting a database over a shared network (client end /Back end) and just placing a database on a shared network and linking in by "File->Get External Data->Link Tables" ?

Hi. I was making some tests here im my database and for some reason now my keyboard is not writing in Portuguese. Imagine the correct way to put an accent on a vogal is to press the accent and then the vogal.

I have inherited an access table in which all of the entries (270,000 of them) have been made in all caps. I need to convert the table to "proper" so that the first letter is capitalized and the remainder is lower case. Can I just update the field somehow?? Thanks
