User-Level Security & Split db31 Dec 2007 15:18 GMT8
This mdb pair has been in use for some time, but there have
been lots of development tweaks (not security) since the
last time I tested the ability of the "data-entry" MS Access
group to enter data (MS Access 2002/WindowsXPSP2).
computer take over31 Dec 2007 11:37 GMT1
I have an issue.  I believe that some one has access to my computer.  How do
I know for sure if someone has a connection?  Example,  I can not down load
anything directly to my computer.  At times, I download software on a usb
harddisk and later the computer will uninstall the ...

One User in Several Groups?26 Dec 2007 15:36 GMT3
This is sounding like a dumb question, but is there any
reason why a user should, or shouldn't be in more than one
custom group.
It seems like a dumb question because even someone in the
SID, Container and Document object26 Dec 2007 05:57 GMT3
I understand permissions that control access to objects can be written/read
via the Container/Document objects. When users and groups are added to the
workgroup file, SIDs are created for each. When I create a group (Employees)
and assign explicit permissions to that group on ...
Windows Firewall24 Dec 2007 06:33 GMT1
I have either limited firewall or conectivity on my computer.  I believe I
have firewall protection with my Norton Securities 2006.  My computer crashed
recently due to what I think was some virus.  I had both firewalls working at
that time.  Can anyone tell me if I am vulnorable ...
Project Unviewable in Access23 Dec 2007 21:59 GMT3
I'm trying to add some features to a .mdb.  A previous user who is no longer
contactable has somehow locked the VBA projects.  What do I need to do to
unlock it.  I've seen different ways of doing this for Excel but so far have
not seen it for Access.  Can anyone help me with ...
moved database21 Dec 2007 17:45 GMT17
I secured my database and it worked great. I couldn't open it with my
default system.mdw only my custom.mdw. But then I had to move the database to
a different network drive. I moved the fe and be. Now, everything still looks
fine with my custom.mdw but with my default system.mdw ...
Multiple users able to access MS Access 2003 Dbase20 Dec 2007 13:23 GMT1
We have two Access 2003 dbases that were set up to allow simultaneous user
access without any problems up to five months ago. Now, only one user is able
to access the dbase at any time. We checked all our settings and they're
correct to allow multiple access.
best practice for remote access through AD18 Dec 2007 17:44 GMT1
We need to find out what MS recommends as far as a network configuration
‘best practice’ to allow non-employees access to a specific application on a
server on our 2003 Active Directory network.
More specifically,  the application is a client/server model.
Access 2003 security setup18 Dec 2007 17:18 GMT1
I recently created a database in Access 2003 and included all the data
generated by three different groups in three separate tables.    When the
database was created, while trying to set up layers of security for each of
the three groups, I ended up setting the level of security ...
Difference in Security for 2003 and 2007 for MDB18 Dec 2007 16:52 GMT2
I am only concerned with MDB files.  I have heard/read that there may be
some differences between the way past Access versions handle security and
the way it is handled in 2007.  I mean specifically databases that have
workgroup-based security.  However, I cannot find any clear ...
Excel 2003 security18 Dec 2007 15:15 GMT1
I have some Excel 2003 SP3 procedures opening .xls files, each of them
containing VBA macros. In order to provide the highest system protection,
each time Excel requires repeatedly user permission to open, which is tedious
and in some cases problematic.
