Ok. I set the security step by step today. I have set up the new workgroup file in a different drive than my "C" drive, so I'm not sure if that's what the issue is when I try to do the last steps where I creat a shortcut on my desktop.

I have created a custom workgroup file that I named CogGroup.mdw. I then joined my split frontend to CogGroup.mdw and that works fine, but when I join the backend to CogGroup.mdw then the default workgroup file for Access 2003 also changes over to CogGroup.mdw.
