object and join it to a workgroup file?

I'm seeing the following error from an indirect sync between a full
global replica and a farm:
An error occurred while using the partner member in the replica
set;UNKNOWN REASON (-20114)
Synchronization Problem - Record Deleted02 Sep 2004 20:49 GMT1
I am getting an debug error when I run a synchronization
process.  The error states that the record is deleted.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

When initiating synchronization from a remote machine,
indirect synchronization fails. However, once I've gone
through the configuration wizard of the replication
manager on the remote machine again, it suddenly works.

I've been reading the chapter on replication (A2K Developer's Handbook - Vol
2) and it doesn't really say much about when to use replication and when not
to other than "there are some situations where no one solution is obvious".
I'm wondering about my situation and would appreciate ...
