Using database on a network - read only access?08 May 2007 20:19 GMT14
Hi I am creating a database that once finished will be placed on a server and
then accessed from different PCs. My question is if someone has the database
open can someone else open it at the same time? If so would it be read-only?
Is there something I have to set up so that ...
multi user security08 May 2007 19:56 GMT8
I have been asked to replace a single user database running on a
workstation with a multiuser alternative. Most of the workstations (4)
on site have Access 2003 installed, and a number of unrelated Access
databases exist for use by individual employees, with no security

I have an application that has tons of code, forms, queries and linked tables

processing this has been working our great.
The linked tables are refreshed depending on a combo box pick, however they
Relationships went away on split05 May 2007 01:15 GMT7
I have a database that I decided to split.  Everyting is working fine, but a
few days after the split I went to add some new relationships, but every one
of the 52 relationships I already had built are gone.  Is this normal?  Do
relationships delete if you split a database?
Is more than one FE a bad idea?05 May 2007 01:12 GMT10
Using Office 2003 and Windows XP;
I am developing a DB which I plan to split into a FE and BE over a network;
The DB is not too large: less than 15 forms; less than 10 tables; about 15
mb fully loaded, but will not grow substantially as most use will be in
Shared FE04 May 2007 22:53 GMT12
I have been reading all the posts about putting a copy of the FE on each

BE on a server in the same folder.  I make shortcuts ...
Multi User application and viewing changing data question04 May 2007 20:49 GMT10
I am working on a procurement system that will be used by about 5 - 10 users
(initailly). The database is split, in that the front end is Access 2003, the
backend is Oracle 9i, tables are linked.
Now I have come up against something I'm not 100% sure how to handle.  As
Access app & Vista04 May 2007 20:49 GMT36
I've developed a front end/back end access application for access xp & 2003.
It needs to be available to all users on the PC
I would prefer not to have it in the common doc.s area as it becomes visible
over the network.

support /development of it. It has certainly proved very useful/helpful
to me!
There is some info I have been meaning to pass on to you, which may also
Suppress by an other user04 May 2007 01:17 GMT1

any multi-user limitations04 May 2007 01:17 GMT5
We currently have an access front-end and access back-end database to allow
multiple users access.  The database is extremely complicated with many
linked tables and lots of forms.  Realistically what is the total number of
users over a 100 Base T network and VPN? Any ...
Changes History (Log)04 May 2007 01:16 GMT4
Is it possible to retrieve information about inserted, deleted or
updated records in an MS Access database from system tables? In other

change the database structure and there is no current logging
