I have developed an Access application to administer competitons for a
photography club. Now, because of the workload entering all the data, I
am looking to make it multi-user. That, in itself, is not a problem, and
I have done such apps in the past.

is not able to access the database because of errors involving joining

I have a split FE/BE a97 mdb, with 4 PCs on a peer-to-peer W2k network each
with their own FE, and a BE on a fileserver running w2kserver.
Whenever I try to do a compact/repair on the FE on my PC I get "The
microsoft jet database engine stopped the process because you and another

Which is faster, if any, when accessing a backend from a local fronted over
a network -
mapping the share to a driveletter og just using the sharename?
Does it matter?

I'm using Access 2003. I have a database that I want to allow all users to
view, and print reports, some users to be allowed to enter all of the data,
and finally some of the users to be limited to entering data in specific
fields. Is this possible? The form is tabbed.

I share the MDW file in the server. If the second user execute the shortcut,
there is an error message "file is already in use".

For the past 9 years we have had a database (split) .Server 2000. Two
buildings (One server) T1 line connecting the two. The building
farthest away has now started giving disk or network errors.
The network administrator says it is the database. I disagree.

I have a standard multi-user Access database with a backend, a design master
and a master replica.  Each user makes a replica of the master replica and
synchronized to the master replica.  I synchronize changes to the design
master also to the master replica.

This annoying error message from MS Access "MSACCESS.exe has generated
errors and will be closed by Windows. ... "
Keeps happening for most versions of MS Access like 95, 97, 2000, that I am
aware of.
