I have split a database following the directions found in another thread here
(the back end only has the tables, the rest is in the front end, including
queries).  In my VB code, I instantiate a command object and set CommandText
property to the name of a query, the CommandType ...

I've seen it recommended in various postings and database websites that you
should avoid having look-up fields in your tables. I'd like to understand
this better. Why do experts advise against them, and how can you create
relationships between tables without using a look-up ...

Using a financial database and want to sum one columns in a query. Just
can't seem to do it. Any help appreciated.
