I am modifiying an Access database in Access 2000 then
have to create 2 versions a 2000 version and a 97 version.
These will be connected toi a 97 back-end.
Is there any problem in doing this?

I have a split 2000 split database on my desktop. I saved
the front and backend files on zip and loaded them on my
laptop with 2002 Access. I entered the two files into a

Problem -> I have several thousand db files created by Access that I
need to convert to delimited plain text.  Add to that that I'm a
unix/perl hack with next to zero development time on windows platforms
(and hence little clue about coding in VB).

We have upgraded our PC from Win 98 SE to Win XP. Also
changed to MS Office 2000. All went well, except the old
Access 97 database that we had now gives us a strange

I've been told not to use Get External Data.  This is for a database that is
1.99GB and compacting down to 127MB (routinely ending up back at 1.99GB).
How does Get External Data differ from importing the same rows using an
append query?

I have been using Access97 quite happily but have decided that perhaps
it's time to upgrade.
