I'm working on modifications to a split database system that runs on a
network. I need to add code to capture the user's network loginID. I found
the code I need at mvps.org/access. All I have is a standalone computer
running WindowsXP Pro. Is there a way to simulate a network on my machine to
where I can test the code to capture a user's network loginID?

I appreciate any guidance anyone can give me!

This should still work for whatever ID you are using to log on to your system.  Also
create additional IDs and log onto those to see what happens.

FWIW the code at mvps.org/access works quite nicely.
