Have used Office 97 programs to perform my small business records. All of my
500 or so customers information is in Access 97 along with my sales info.
Love that data base stuff.
I want to upgrade to Office Ultimate 2007 but.......will all of my "old"
stuff upconvert to Office 2007? Or, will Office 2007 be able to read my
files created in Office 97 and convert them to savable records?

You need to find a group dedicated to Office, rather than this Access group.

I posted this here because most of the important files I have are in Access
97. I did repeat the original post in Office and Excel newsgroups.
Thought an Access person could advise me.

They will likely all convert (if they don't have existing compile problems). It
is also likely that a few of them will have things "broken" by Access 2007 that
you will have to fix.

By all I've heard, the data should transfer smoothly; I can't promise the same
for the application (forms, reports, and code). You may well need to do some
tweaking and upgrading, since both Access2000 and (again) Access2007 made some
structural and language changes.
Do note that the user interface - especially from the developer's point of
view - has changed dramatically (one might say drastically) in 2007, a much
bigger change than the change from 97 to 20xx. The "Ribbon" is all new; if you
have custom toolbars in your 97 app they may need to be completely
redone/rethought.

There are more than a few who'd disagree that Access or Office 97 was "the
dark ages." They argue that Access 97 was "the best release" ever of
Access, more stable, more solid, and easy to use -- and that it got better
with two Service Releases.
All conditions being met... you have MDB files not MDE, the application
compiles without error in Access 97, you haven't run afoul of Microsoft
enforcing rules in later versions about which you had flexibility in 97, and
such... they ought to convert OK; in fact, the older version should run
without "conversion".
