Is there a downloadable example database or spreadsheet, Office 2003 or2000,
for Billing Projections by month? One in which I can enter multiple job
names, projected amounts, projected dates, and then create a report on total
projected billings for each of, say, the next six months. This is a very
common basic business need. Mine are small, but of long duration, services
jobs, some billable each month, in varying amounts over many months. Line by
line entry in Excel is tedious, and difficult to keep track of the running
amount from each job, so it seems there should be a template or Wizard that
could allow each job name, etc ., to be entered once, then the monthly
amounts or percentage billings entered. It seems Access may be required to
report on and track both the job totals, and also the monthly totals, but
maybe Excel could work. Thanks for any help that is offered.

There is no such template to my awareness, which is limited...

By the way, Access and Excel are *not* just quirky versions of each
other.  They are significantly different packages.  If you believe
that they're the same then keep your feet firmly planted in the Excel
world until and unless you want to take on a significant learning
challenge.

You might try the Microsoft site by going there and searching on
"templates".

You're right that projected income and business results are a part of
the game - particularly those companies listed on the stock exchanges.

However, it doesn't seem to be all that common at the low end.  I
think a lot of that is done by the owner playing with Excel and the
figures from the recent past.  The owner's biases, hopes and other "j"
factors weigh heavily in those instances.

In most cases, such an application would be tailored to the current
user's wishes/needs.  It would be a useful tool to use in going for
operational or even development capital or just for the owner's
personal, unpublished, business plan.
