hi All,

In my application I want to interact with other office applications. How do
I check for example if Word or Outlook are installed. I need to know as i
want to distribute the application and turn of these features if they are not
present on a clients machine.

As always any help is always appreciated.

Regards,

John Dumay

Hi John,

If you use late binding, then you can trap for error 429, which will be
raised if a given application is not installed. One advantage to using late
binding is that no checked reference is required. Version specific references
can be a problem if you are setting references to Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.

To find out if an application is installed, you might try using the code
shown in this method:

Get Version of Office Exes (detecting Office patches)
    http://www.mvps.org/access/api/api0065.htm

This article might be of some use as well:

    Find the associated EXE file
    http://www.mvps.org/access/api/api0023.htm
