On the part of the help that you can see, you will find a tool button
with a left pointing arrow (tooltip is "Show"). Click on it.

Unfortunately, when I hit the "Show" key, the left pane remains cut so I can
only see one quarter of the left pane. I can make out two left and right VCR
buttons, an underlined "W", a piece of a command button that I can't read the
caption on. Hey wait! I figured it out. You need to hit "Untile" to
unhinge it, drag it to the opposite side of the screen. Then the double
arrow will work again, and you can drag it to any size you want, anywhere you
want. Thanks for the lead!
