...am I supposed to get into the little yellow box that has the software.

I broke both thumbnails and the tip of a knife getting through the two clips
on the side. When I started to peel the plastic on the top, the registration
started to tear away. At that point I stopped. Obviously it is hinged at the
bottom as I can see that it pivots. The instructions consist of two little
drawings that don't tell me anything as they assume the top tape is broken
which it will only do if the registration certificate is torn to shreds.

Are we supposed to just put it on the floor and stomp it?!!!

Most modern day software packaging uses military grade production standards.
You might try contacting the Air Force and see if they can call in an air
strike with a precision guided missile (although, I think they only do this
every third Tuesday).

Eric,

There should be a little red tab, just hold the thin side and pull the tab
away from your hand. If you broke the tab stick your nail where the tab
was.

I used a hammer and chisel. Really, I'm not kidding. It worked fine. I agree
with you that the packaging designers need to be shot, to make sure it
doesn't happen again.

I've had a copy of Office 2007 for, oh, 3 months or so. Someone recently
asked me how I was getting on with it. I said that the first month was spent
trying to open the case.... :)
