YEsterday I used my outlook 2000 just fine.

Today I have repeatedly tried to open it and I cannot. I get a "MS has
encountered a problem and must close" message...option to send a report or
not...I have sent several, and chosen not to send several....still cannot
open. I have rebooted, and shut down completely...I have checked the
information link and it says I need to upgrade...WHY?  I only use this for
home e-mail. I have an office computer, so I don't need this one excpet for
personal.

Please repost your question in a newsgroup supporting Outlook. This group is
for a different program, Microsoft Access. The webpage can be confusing -
scroll down the list of subject areas and find a group which supports Outlook.
