Hi

How is it possible to print a report on one tray and then a copy on a second
tray?

Thanks

You might be able to somehow program the printer directly but I don't
know if any printers even support this.

Alternatively you need to use PrtDevMode.

ACC: How to Change a Report's Printer Using Code Q129397
For more information about PrtDevMode and PrtDevNames, search for
"PrtDevMode property" or "PrtDevNames property," using the Microsoft
Access 97 Help Index or please see the following web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/AccessDev/Articles/GetzCh10.HTM

For more info on some restrictions, such as not being able to open a
report in design mode in MDEs, do a search on prtdevmode at the
Knowledge Base at support.microsoft.com.  (You might be able to get
around this particular problem by using Automation to open a report in
an MDB and somehow passing appropriate data to the MDB.

Also note that this is very complex code and is recommended only for
advanced programmers.  Also the above chapter was taken, IIRC, from
the Access 95 Developers Handbook.   If you have a newer version of
the Developers Handbook it may be better documented.

Yes, it is a standard function for corporate printers, but I've
never seen it set up 'in house'. The companies I deal with would
get their HP rep to set up a printer to do that.  BTW, more common
now might be to save the second copy as an electronic copy, rather
than as a plain-paper copy.  Windows print server can do that,
although without a proprietary document search and storage solution
it is not of much value.

An alternative to using PrtDevMode would be just to set up two
printer names on the same printer, each with a different
default tray.  Then you could just print a copy of the report
to each of the two 'printer names'

Now that's a good idea.

Thanks, Tony
