I want to be able to create a look up column that has subheadings. This will
be used to select an Industry type. So there are 5 different types of
industries and within the industries there are choices.  Can I do this in
access?

You don't want to use lookup fields in tables. You can do this with forms.
There is a sample database at Roger Carlson's site
http://www.rogersaccesslibrary.com/TableOfContents3.asp#C.
