Does anyone have any suggestions to help my figure out why Access repeatedly
crashes when I do very inocuous things? Like change the Control Source on a
text box or other equally mundane stuff?

I've tried to uninstall and completely remove all references in the registry
and then reinstall. But after a while it starts failing again. I don't know
what might be happenig to Access or my system to induce this.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I sure hope I don't need to
resort to a reinstall of my system....

BTW, I'm also having a problem with the VB help system where links in the
topics aren't displayed or generate script errors.

Does it happen regardless of what database you're working with, or only with
a specific database?

If the latter, see whether decompiling the database helps. MichKa talks
about decompiling at http://www.trigeminal.com/usenet/usenet004.asp

Hmm, The option doesn't seem to exist in Access 2002 SP1.

Any other options?

Thanks for the info.

Yes, Access 2002 SP1 can decompile, same as all other versions.

What exactly are you typing in the command line? What happens when you run
it?

I'm wondering if you need an updated video card driver?

Hmm, the video driver card. Is there some known issue releated to video
drivers? I'm on the latest drivers available for my system.

I'm (foolishly) hoping there are ways to capture some info that points to a
more specific failure mode. I've found that there's two errors logged in the
event view:

Event Type:    Error
Event Source:    Microsoft Office 10
Event Category:    None
Event ID:    1000

msaccess.exe, version 10.0.4302.0, fault address 0x0010fbc1.

Event Type:    Error

Event Category:    None

These seem to be generic enought that there are a large number of possible
causes.

One other factor could be in play. I'm taking this database file between two
different version of Access, my home computer running Acesss 2002 sp1, and I
think it's Access 2000 at work. I'll need to check the exact version. Access
doesn't seem to ever complain about that, though.

This said (in a light hearty way): I'm one of those 'pesky' ;-) analytical
types who usually like to have an explaination for why something is failing.
And a bit of an reason why a particular solution might fix the problem.
Unfortunately, the state of computers and Windows in particular make it
nearly impossible to isolate and fix a particular problem without a bit of a
shotgun approach.

Anyway, any thoughts are welcome.
