Access 2007 Trial and Access 2007 Runtime Conflict

I have MS-Office 2007 Small Business Edition under Vista installed on my
laptop.  It included Access 2007 trial.  I do not need the trial or the full
version of Access 2007 on this machine.  I have the full Access 2007 on my
desktop and do all maintenence there.  I want and need to have only Access
2007 runtime running on the laptop.

I have downloaded Access 2007 Runtime and installed it.  However, I cannot
tell where it is downloaded or what the .exe file name is.  I have found the
Access 2007.exe and have tried to change the name so it will start, but
MS-Office keeps creating a new Access.exe.

How do I get rid of the trial, and be able to use the runtime version?

Go into Add/Remove Software and select the Office 2007 Small Business
Edition.   There should be an option where you can choose what you
want installed.

>I have downloaded Access 2007 Runtime and installed it.

On the desktop machine, right?  Where you already have a full version
of Access 2007 or Office 2007 Professional or whatever it's called?
You will need the full version of A2007 to create a runtime install of
your app.

Tony,
Read my post again and you will see that I am talking about a laptop with MS
Access 2007 Trial along with MS Office SBE.  I want the Access 2007 trial off
the laptop.  It is already expired, but it won't go away.  I have gone to
add/remove.  I do not see anyway to remove one of the components od Office
2007 SBE including the Access 2007 trial.

I downloaded Access 2007 Runtime to the LAPTOP not the Desktop.  If I go to
Add/Remove The runtime version is there to delete, but I don't know where it
is on the laptop or what the name of the Runtime exe is to call it.  Calling
Access.exe brings up the trial.

By your wording " It included Access 2007 trial."  I assumed you meant
it was MS Office SBE.  So it was the laptop then?

Then I have no idea as I've never used the trial version.   As far as
I know it will be somewhere in Add/Remove.

Right.   But the Access 2007 Runtime requires that you have Access
2007 already on your system.  It's not a stand alone product but
requires A2007 to execute it.

Yes, which is what I said in the original post.

If it is I can't find it and I know my way around.

What?  Access Runtime IS a standalone product.  The reason for Runtime is so
you don't have to have the full version of MS Access on the computer to run
access applications.  You just can't get to the database objects. (tables,
queries, forms, reports) for design modifications.

I have been using Access and Runtime for years on different platforms.  I
just want to know how to disable the Access 2007 Trial included in MS Office
2007 SBE so I can use Runtime for applications that do not need backend
manipulation.

Your wording was ambiguous.  Which is what I was trying to point out.

Ok, then maybe Microsoft has changed how it works in this last
version.  I may very well be wrong.

Someone else is going to have to help you out there then.

Hi Phil,

I not not have Access 2007. But I believe Tony's right about this one.

Is it possible the you have miss something the the window of the Office setup
or the Control Panel's Add or Remove Program?

Here's how to remove the features for Office 2000.

In the old version Access 2000, go to Control Panel – Add or Remove Program –
select the MS Office 2000 – Click Change.
When office setup starts, click the Add or Remove Features button, in the
setup you’ll see a list of install application, click on the box with a icon
like “Harddisk”, select the “ X Not Available “ then click the “Update Now”
button.

It may not be the same of for Office 2007, but I hope it can help you to
understand the steps and procedure of removing Office features.

You don't just install the runtime (especially not from the download) and
expect it to allow you to open MDB files.

The runtime product is intended to be used in conjunction with the
"developer" edition of Access to create a package that can be installed by
users who don't already have Access installed.

You cannot simply download the runtime and expect to be able to open any MDB
file you want (although once you've installed a properly packaged
application and have the runtime on your computer, you then can open other
MDB files)
