Somehow or another, the Access 2000 program is not on my antique (1999)
laptop. I find myself badly in need of a contact manager, & was told that it
is easy to set up one in access. My hard drive is only 4 gig, and I have to
delete something before adding anything else (and I do use an external hard
drive to help me there). Anyway, If anybody knows where I can get a very
cheap copy of access 2000 to install, and good information as how to do
things. In particular, I have looked in several how-to books, and none of
them tells me how to use a business card scanner to input data.
I will greatly appreciate any help in these two areas.

Depends on your experience level and comfort with Access. If very
little experience you could spend a considerable length of time
getting things going. You may be better off using such tools as
Outlook.

No idea.

I'd suggest looking at your local book store.

That can't be done with Access. There are specialized business card
scanners which contain such software. And they work surprisingly well
when I looked at them about eight or so years ago at a client.
However how they would interface with Access is another topic.

If your volume of business cards is high enough that you need such a
device I'd start with that device as it would almost certainly come
with contact manager software.

Also that device would almost certainly interface with programs such
as Outlook or Palms.
