Thanks for that John. It appears that there was a glitch with the print
driver that was installed so I reinstalled it and all seems OK now.
Now that I have that working, I've encountered another problem.
The database that I've written is a Quality Assurance DB for a major
construction project in Victoria, Australia. I have developed the database
over several projects and it typically has been situated on a LAN with the
Design Master on my personal drive with a Replica on the common network.
I now have to send one of my Site Engineers to the other end of the project
10 km away where he wont have network access.
What I have done logged onto his laptop and copied the Design Master onto
the local C:\.
I then replicated the database back onto the common LAN, the theory being
that he can work on the laptop locally then synchronise back to the LAN
regularly to ensure data is kept stored on the server.
The problem is that everything works when I log onto his laptop, but when he
logs onto his laptop, the Design Master only permits him to open as read only.
I figure that it's probably something to do with the security settings, but
apart from creating the replica I have't applied any specific security
settings to the database.
Any ideas on how I would troubleshoot.
Thanks in advance.

Have you tried right-clicking on the file(s) and getting the security settings?
It may be at the file level that the OS has set security to Read-only for
persons other than the administrator or the file creator or owner.
Have you implemented Access security? It doesn't sound like it. So I am
guessing that the problem is at the OS level.
