I keep getting this message:The patch package could not be installed. Verify
that the patch package exists and that you can access it or contact the
application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch
package."

How do I fix this problem?

Unfortunately, you forgot to say precisely what update you were trying to
install, or where you got it from.

Chris,
Thank you for replying. I'm using Outlook XP SP2.

I wanted to run Detect and Repair since Outlook XP was running sluggishly
and thought that this might bring it up to speed. When I tried to update
(from MSFT's website) or to re-install Office XP I got the same Windows
Installer error message about the missing patch.which I quoted in my original
message. I wasn't trying to install anything.

When I remove the installer using MSFT's program and try to do a complete
Office install, I get a message saying that it can't find the program on my
HD and the resultant installation error, even though the copy is legitimate
and I used the same 25 key alpha/numeric key to install it originally.

Again, thank you for getting back to me. I'm really very appreciative of
your time and effort.
Eli
