When I run a compact and repair on my Access 2000 database, I get an hourglass and it runs forever. Task manager shows no activity in MSACCESS.EX
Does anyone know what this means
I can open and use the database and nothing seems amiss with it. But not being able to compact and repair it concerns me.
Hi,
It could be a sign of corruption probably in your database especially if it
happens with only this file. Use JETCOMP.exe to see if you can compact it
(repair corruption), see: ACC2000: Jet Compact Utility Available in
Download Center
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;273956
Also to make sure it's not your machine down and install the latest service
pack the Microsoft JET Database Engine

Here's another article to assist with corruption in Microsoft Access
databases
ACC2000: How to Troubleshoot Corruption in a Microsoft Access Database

I hope this helps! If you have additional questions on this topic, please
