When I install Access 2002 on a Win98SE, MOsearch is a
memory resident program that causes disc activity for and
hour and a half. (If I don't use the machine) If I use the
machine, then the disc activity never stops. Its activity
is about like DeFrag.
Can anyone tell me what MOsearch is doing, and if I need
it to run Access?

I guess the answer is that MOsearch is not needed. It has
been turned off for a week and I have had no know
problems. I don't understand why Microsoft won't address
the question.

Have you asked Microsoft?

You are posting a question in a user group.  The people here are not paid or
employed by Microsoft.  We are just a group of folks helping each other out.

The reason you did not get a response if most likely because no one knew an
answer to your question.  We have never heard of MOsearch.

Yes, that's the first thing I did. I contacted Microsoft
and they said it was not a problem. Opened a Case to
investigate a problem with my machine. I later learned, on
my own investigation, of Microsoft Knowledge Base Article
282106 "OFFXP:Hard Disk Runs Continuously After You
Install Office XP". The most help was from
henwin@atlantech.net "FindFast/mosearch".
Hope this helps someone else..
