'can't use wizard' problem

Hi,

We have Access2000 on a W2k PC and need A97 installed on the same PC. I
followed the MS bulletin about installing these 2 versions on the same PC.
It installed okay and I can use A97. However, when I try to use the Linked
table wizard I get the 'Wizard not installed' error message. I've
reinstalled A97 (with advanced wizards) and Jet4 update patch (as in another
thread on this newsgroup), but to no avail.

When I enter the PC on admin authority, the wizard works fine - it's just
when I'm the 'user' of the PC that it fails. It points to a permission
thing, but is this possible...and if so, how do we remedy it?

Thanks.

Bob

Hi Bob,

You may want to check the registry permissions.  Test that user having Full
Permissions to the following registry keys (use either "regedit" or
"regedt32" via Start > Run):

HKEY_Classes_Root
HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Office
HKEY_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Office

Note: you may need to remove "Allow inheritable permissions to propagate"

I hope this helps!  If you have additional questions on this topic, please
respond back to this posting.

Thanks Eric.

I changed the permissions using regedt32 in ...local_machine...\Office\8.0
so the 'user' had full control (clearing Allow inheritable permissions to
propagate). I then did it for Office. I then just gave the 'user' full
control (read/write, etc) in compute management/permissions. All to no
avail - still getting msg, but still able to use the wizard in Admin mode.

Couldn't see what to change in the other 2 keys??

???

Thanks

Bob
