MS Access Forum / Security / July 2006ldb won't delete
Hello, I have a split DB running and when I try to open the back-end to do edits on a table, I get a message saying that I do no have exclusive access and that my changes may not save. When I checked the ldb files I found that there is always two and they seem to be from the same user. I've tried to delete them and they do but then they show up again. The .ldb file is the lockfile generated by Access whenever a user opens the database. You can delete it, but, as you've found, Access just rebuilds it as needed. Also, you cannot delete it if another user has the db open ... Windows will alert you and disallow the delete. You cannot edit a table that is in use in Access 2000+. You'll have to open the db exclusively to do this ... you can do this by opening Access, click File - Open, then locate the file and click the down arrow beside teh Open button ... select Open Exclusive.
