In a multi-user setting, I want a particular database to be read only for
everyone, but I'm not sure how to go about it.   I'm fairly new with Access,
can you walk me through the easiest way to set it up.

Thanks for the help!

Hi, Diane.

For information on several methods of allowing read-only access to Access
databases in a multiuser environment, please see the following Web page for
a link to the article, "Multiuser Databases":

http://www.Access.QBuilt.com/html/articles.html

One of the methods describes applying user-level security to achieve the
goal.  This method is the most time-consuming and frustrating to implement,
especially for beginners, but is probably the most effective method.  You
can read the Security FAQ on this Web page:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=/support/access/content/secfaq.asp

If you try this method, then make sure that you practice the steps on a copy
of your database so that you don't accidently lock yourself out.

No.  There are millions of people who need help with their Access databases
and not enough volunteers in the world with the expertise to help every
person through every step of the way.  Read through the documentation first,
and when you have questions, please post a message.  If someone knows the
answer, he'll reply to your message.  And when you become an expert on
setting up multiuser databases, feel free to come back to this forum and
help advise other newbies such as yourself.
