I am using windows XP 2000 and currently have a
standard .mdb file. I would like to create a .mde file
with the standard file but somehow MS Access has greyed
out the "make MDE" option whereas on another computer I'm
able to create the filre. Why is this so?

Hi, Nexus.

The "Make MDE file" option will be disabled until you convert the database
file format to the current version of Access.  For example, if you are using
Access XP and want to convert an Access 2K MDB database into an MDE, then
you must first convert the MDB database to Access XP format, then compile
the code.  Then you should be able to convert it into an MDE database.

However, there are several things that can interfere with creating an MDE.
If you still have problems, check the "Can't Make An MDE!" checklist on the
following Web page to help you determine what the problem is:

You must have one of those dual boot computers, eh?  ;-)

HTH.
