We have a standalone server with about 20 accounts local on the server. We
share files from the server with access only to the local accounts. Sometimes
users get the message that a file is being modified by an account name that
is not local to the server when they try to open a PowerPoint file. What is
returning this message PowerPoint or Windows? How do I find out what has this
file open?

Thank you.

Rayman,
this newsgroup is specifically for the database program called Microsoft
Office Access.
It sounds as if your question is about the program called PowerPoint. You
would get a much better chance of a good answer if you ask your question in
a discussion group for PowerPoint.
