Sum on report

Simple question - but driving me crazy.

I just want a sum on a report which is this:
=Sum([ClosePeriod])

But it returns a line for every record. I just want one line showing this sum.

suggestions?

I suspect your line is in the detail section of the report. Put it in the
report footer section.
