Hi using Access 2003 is it possible to set a background pattern? That is, to
make fields more apparent is it possible to use patterns as colours are not
necessarily distinctive with black and white printers.

Any ideas or recommendations appreciated :-)

Not without a lot using a lot of code to draw the pattern,
Besides, patterns can easily obscure the text or at least
make it difficult to read.

Fepending on your printer's resolution, you can get several
reasonably distinctive effects by using 2 or 3 shades of
gray combined with normal, bold and/or italic (and maybe
even different fonts).  There are also the border style and
thickness properties you can manipulate
