Hi There,

Does anybody know of a simple graphical user interface software solution to
assist replication for MS-Access 2000 via FTP or HTML that can be
automatically scheduled?

I have seen a bewildering amount of writing on a bewildering amount of code
to work around the replication manager, which has now dissappeared. I don't
really have the time to understand and impliment it.

If there is no such solution then there is a golden opportunity for somebody
out there who is FAR cleverer than I.

Cheers

It could very easily be programmed with DAO and the TSI Synchronizer
in an Access database, though not with a graphical representation of
the replicas like Replication Manager (though I guess a real whiz
like Stephen Lebans could probably figure it out).

I have my own proprietary tools that I use for setting up indirect
replication, but I can't share those, as the expertise that went
into writing them is far too valuable to give away to everyone.

How much would you pay for such an Access application? How would you
be prevented from then distributing it freely to everyone?

I'm happy to share my knowledge of how to do it.

I'm not willing to give away my tools that do it for you.

Hi David,

Thanks for your response.

I fully understand your worries about the distribution of the system, and
your need to realise true value for your intellectual property.

Two real posing questions there.
1) I think the discussion of payment would be best done off the group at it
is a private affair. I will contact you via email.

2) Provision of written garantees for non distribution can always be made,
but it would be a highly expensive and complicated proceedure as I am living
in Botswana and the host system will most likely be domiciled in Cape Town.

By way of reassurance, I am, in fact, a geologist who manages data for
projects throughout Southern Africa for a reputable British company. I'm very
interested in getting the data linked throughout the projects, and not even
remotely interested in distributing your solution and depriving you of your
hard earned cashflow. I'm far too busy already, hence my aversion to learning
the code.

I'll be in touch.

Martin
