Can anyone tell me if replication manager in the 97 developer tools can
manage replication for Access 2003 databases?

No, it cannot. Replication is not cross-version compatible. A2K+
cannot edit A97 replicated databases, for instance.

And no version of Jet is forward-compatible. ReplMan from the A97
developer tools is Jet 3.5, and A2K, A2K2 and A2K3 are Jet 4. If you
need ReplMan, you need to acquire the Jet 4 version.

I keep hearing about the Replication Manager Tool.  Is this a built in
feature for Access 2003? Or do I need to find a 2003 compatible vversion
somewhere?

I would recommend that if you are interested in Replication, you
peruse the Replication White Papers and the Replication FAQ. They
are all listed on this page:

ng_about_Jet_Replication

The sad fact is that Microsoft so poorly understands its products
that the Office 2003 development kit (i.e., Visual Studio) omits
Replication Manager. You have to get the Office 2000 or Office XP
developer edition to get Replication Manager.

As the message you quote above says (but which you've apparently not
actually read), the ReplMan version is Jet version-specific, and
since A2K, A2K2 and A2K3 are all Jet 4, one version of ReplMan works
with all those versions of Access.

Actually the quote says nothing about ReplMan not working with A2K3.  It
says replication manager in 97 developer doesn't manage replication for
Access 2003 databases.  For someone who is learning, that statement could
very easily mean that there is a ReplMan that is NOT in 97 (perhaps a new
version after 97) that DOES work for A2K3.

This also could very easily mean that there is a ReplMan for Jet 4.

So apparently I did read them.  Sorry that everything isn't as intuitive for
people who are still in college.  And this quote to me would imply that
>>since A2K, A2K2 and A2K3 are all Jet 4, one version of ReplMan works
> with all those versions of Access.<<< There is a ReplMan that works with all of those versions in Access.

We're here to get help.  If you want to help, help but don't slip snide

And if you'd bothered to read the Microsoft documentation, and not
just what I'd posted, then you wouldn't have had this question.

Or, you could have asked for a clarification of what had been
posted.

But, again, get a thicker skin.

Grow up.

In the real world, nobody's going to forgive you your shortcomings
-- that's up to you to correct.
