Replica was synchronizing over internet well for months then ocoured this error 3684. Can anybody help? I doubt

I resolved this problem by moving "corrupted" replica to the server and
made direct synchonization. Then I returned the "fixed" replica to the
original location. I woul'd really like to know, why replica was
corrupted.

Also, take note of the two articles referred to in the text. If you
have a replica farm, you'd likely never encounter this error.
