Managing multiple Replica Sets

I use the Replication Manager for indirect replication.
Now I want to set up another replica set, a copy of the
replica set I have already established just for testing
things. Therefore, I tried to take a copy of a replica and
convert it into a Design Master for another replica set.
But it didn't work since apparently there's a converter
integrated in the Replication Manager, i.e. it only
accepts Non-Replicas as basis for a Design Master. Is
there a trick to bypass this requirement? I don't want ot
use the old db that doesn't have all the design changes I
made to adapt it for replication.

Thanks for your advice!!!

Replication Manager has no problem managing multiple replica sets, but they
have to BE multiple sets. A copy of a replica is not such a thing.

The only solution is to make a copy, convert it to a regular db, and then
make that db into a new replica set.

Thanks Michael. I have just finished converting a replica
to a regular db. Now I just want to avoid to ruin my
established replica set. How do I have to start the setup
of the second set? Closing the first set and just creating
a new set? Do I have to configure the Replication Manager
again? Do both sets use the same dropbox? Do I have to
fear complications by those two sets being intertwined
somehow?

You just open the database in ReplMan. It will see that it is not a replica
and convert it. You can also choose to convert it to a design master from
the menu.

That will do it.

No.

Yes -- dropboxes are per Synchronizer.

No. Jet considers two replica sets to be two different things.

I did as you suggested. It works fine. Thanks a lot!
