Replace unmanaged design master

Hello,

I have a corrupted A2K design master database which I would like to
replace with a replica of my hub database.  All of my replicas are
unmanaged.  I understand how to 'recover' a design master, but this
essentially turns one of my existing replicas into the design master.
I want to delete the corrupted design master and create a new design
master exactly where the old one was.  Can I do this by deleting the
old design master, creating a new replica in its place, and then using
'recover' on the new replica?  My concern about this approach is that
the new design master will have a different replica ID and I'm not
sure what problems this will cause with the other replicas.  The other
approach I considered was first deleting the corrupted design master
and then attempting to synch all of the replicas to it, thus removing
the design master from each replica's list of available replicas (and
thus, I'm hoping, any reference to the corrupted design master's
replica ID).  Then I would use the hub to create a new replica where
the old design master was and make the new replica the design master.
What is the best way to replace a design master from a hub replica
where the two live in different directories?  Thanks.

Your approach to delete the corrupted DM and sync all replicas is the
safest.

You must have a FULL Replica (as opposed to a partial replica) to create a
new Full Replica.   You can create that FULL Replica in the old DM
directory.   I would give it a different name, but it is not essential.
The Replica ID will keep things straight.

Then you can "Recover Design Master" on the new replica.

It should work.   I've done it many times.   Good Luck
