No need to respond unless you are from Microsoft.

I'm not sure why the screen to offer suggestions to Microsoft took me to a
discussion group, but here goes in case anyone from Microsoft is monitoring
this.

I know that there are ways to rig up a ranking function to sort and rank a
data field across all records ... and with some real effort, do this with
more than one field.  I would like to suggest to Microsoft that they
incorporate a multi-field ranking function in the next version of Access.
Surely there must be users out there that need to individually rank, for
example, their (1) salespeople within (2) each region of the country based on
(3) product line but don't have the expertise and time to do this on their
own.

As long as I'm at it...
It would also be nice to see some increased functionaility of adding,
subtracting, multiplying, and other Excel-type calculation functions of
different fields within the same record.  I can obtain an average of one data
field across all records but can't use an AVERAGE to work on several fields
within the same record.  Doesn't make sense.  Minimum and maximum functions
within the same record are also a must.  Yes, Access is a database but making
it a little more powerful when it comes to built-in calculations would be
nice.

Actually, you can't always be sure Microsoft is monitoring these groups.

You might follow the instruction at http://support.microsoft.com/?id=114491
as well

Thanks, Douglas.
Now that I look at the tagline added after I posted this, I see this is set
up to allow people to vote on these types of suggestions.  I'll send this in
to Microsoft directly per the URl you gave me.
Thanks again.
