I have windows updates set to update automatically.  When I came in today
there were a ton of new updates installed.  Since the update I have not been
able to open my BE Database.  The FE opens fine, but the BE doesnt open at
all.  Does anyone else have this problem?

Are you getting any error messages?  Blank screen?  What happens if
you open Access and then navigate to the BE?  Or navigate using
Windows Explorer to the BE on the server and open it.

In every instance it the vista waiting circle appears for about 1 second and
then nothing.  I have gone into my task manager to see if access was open in
the processes and it was not.  I have narrowed it down to the vista security
update and not the office update.  I have had to uninstall the vista security
update to get back into the BE.  Any suggestions?

I am running Access 2007 on XP and have see the same default behavior.
It is the secury updates. Open Access without open any file and turn
off macro securty. Then you should be able to open the files. There is
some thing in the BE file, it does not like.

I tried turning the macro level to low, and still I get the same issue, the
file just wont open.  Is there an off in macro security, because all I could
find was high, medium, and low.  Would reinstalling office help becuase I'm 3
days into not building a new table that I need to build?

Sorry, I am running Access 2007 which has four options, disable all,
disable all with notification, allow only signed and allow all.  The
best is  disable all with notification, until you can get the project
signed. It halts operations and asks the user if they want to run the
macros.

I started on Access 2.0 and used it a few times when I had too.  I got
more involved in Word and Excel, "Burr" an Excel Database. I spent
more time explaining to the users why not to use sort and restoring
corrupt files then coding.  If you can switch to Access 2007, it has a
few new tricks and the runtime will be out next month and it will be
"free"

Just realized the issue, Ryan.  Copy the FE and BE to a thumb drive
and find an "old" PC with XP with Access.
An see if it open there, also did you check Visa the systems and
applacation logs for any message when you tried to open the file?
