I have a client that is reporting their data is not saving.

There are four users that enter data at the same time into the same table.
They enter the data straight into the table not using a form.  They have
reported when viewing the data later some of the records have not been
saved.  We have the Database Exclusivness set to 'Shared' and records locks
set to 'No Locks'.

Any ideas?

Hi Andy,

Please ignore the other respondent. It's spam.

Access keeps records in a table in no particular order (i.e. random order).
A table is a *bucket* (a term frequently used here) of records in random, no
particular order. The order in which records are entered into a table is not
necessarily the order they appear when the table is viewed. Data should not
be entered directly into a table, use a form instead. A table should also
have a primary key which would help solve your problem.

Has the client confirmed that the records are actually *missing* as opposed
to simply located randomly in the table? Tables have record count at the
bottom of the screen, it should be easy to test this *data not saving*
behavior. Ask each data entry person to keep track of how many records they
enter and verify the total records entered with the record count of the
table.

One problem that's happened to me that isn't immediately obvious:

A user will copy the whole database onto their desktop instead of the
shortcut.  Then, they make changes, edits, adds etc. and the data entry is
only reflected on their copy.  It seems like something that wouldn't happen,
but you'd be surprised.  At least one user does it every time I release a new
version of our database.
