hi all, thanks everyone for the help in the past, i really appreciate that.
Now i have a new problem and help would be really appreciated.
I have a small network based on 4 computers. I have the main Database on the
server. I have all 4 computers connected to the database and they all can
update the data at the same time. I do NOT want to split the database.
Problem started when i upgrade done of my computer to XP. Now from that
computer :
1) I can not open the database when someone else is connected and the DB is
locked
2) I can only open the database from the Access window by going to file >open.
I just can not access the folder and double click the DB file.
3)If i open the DB then it locks the file and then no one else can connect
the DB
The only thing i want is to share it just like other computers. They all can
1) connect at the same time
2) files do not lock when the file is open from other computers
3) file can be updated at the same time
I would really appreciate any help since it is just stopping me to do my work.
thanks in advance
~ Cheers

Why not? A split database is the classic tried and tested multi-user
configuration. It's also not a big deal to perform the split and pays off
big time when you come to maintain your user-interface. It also reduces the
risk of data corruption and may even stop some of the problems you describe
here.
Just my 2p worth.

If you want to do all you said, then you MUST split your database.
Otherwise you will continue with the same problems and perhaps corrupt your
data beyond repair. If that does not scare you, then take what comes.

not want to do it because all other Clients were working fine.
