We have a multiuser database that seems to have become corrupted.  Attempts
to open the database fail and return an error "The Microsoft Jet database
engine stopped the process because you and another user are attempting to
change the same data at the same time. (Error 3197)"  However, there is
currently nobody using the database at all.  This database is in Access 2003
on a Windows XP computer.  I have tried the following, but still cannot open
the database or view any of the data.

- tried the Microsoft Access compact/repair utility (failed)
- tried the Jet Compact Utility 4.0 (failed with "Error compacting database.")
- checked for updates to Windows and to Microsoft Office
- tried to import tables from the old database into a new, blank database
(failed)

Are there any other possible solutions?

Does the LDB file exist?  If so delete it.  Otherwise

For more information on corruption including possible causes,
determining the offending PC, retrieving your data, links, official MS
