Need to setup the database for multiusers

This is my first database that I will need to share with multiusers from not
only my department, but from another. The database for all users with the
exception of myself & one or two others from my department will be
"read-only".  
At the end of this month, I plan to "go live" & need to as part of that
process to give desktop access to those users to the database.
I need to know what processes I have to do to accomplish this goal.
I also need suggestions on how to make a back-up that I can work on making
updates that I can incoporate at the end of the day after all users are out
of the database.
I hope this makes sense & someone can help me.

Split your database into a frontend component (forms, queries,
reports, etc) and a backend component (tables only). The backend
belongs on a shared folder on your network server, while each
workstation should have its own copy of the frontend.

automatically distribute any modifications to the various
