MS Access Forum / Multiuser / Networking / March 2006multiuser database freezing
I have a database with both the front end and the back end on the network. (yes I know this is a bad idea). The current problem is that sometimes when the user is working, the hourglass appears out of nowhere, and then, the current field she is in (a memo text field) is highlighted - so that if she is not looking out for it, it may get totally overwritten with her next keystroke. Has anyone come across this before - is there a fix ? It sounds like a flaky network connection. That could mean trouble by itself. To avoid the thing with the selected text - how about sending the cursor to the end of the memofield when the field get the focus? That way no text will be selected and subsequently won't be deleted a key is pressed? Check the help file for SelLength to place the cursor at then end. Sounds strange. I won't be much help here I'm afraid. Jesper Fjølner Using the SelLength method may still fix your problem. You will need to experiment to find out which event is getting fired that selects the text. I might suggest it is the enter event or the got focus event. By default the text will be selected when a textbox gets focus but if you reset the cursor position on the gotfocus event you can change this. I suspect that something in your network, desktop, or application removes focus from the current object but gives it back (or your text box gets focus just from the user typing in it) so the SelLength method should still apply. >Using the SelLength method may still fix your problem.
