I mistakingly built a database with too many of the fields all in one table,
which causes a problem because anytime more than one person is using the
database there is a good chance they will be trying to update the same table
because most of the forms are built off the same table. If I break this table
down into smaller tables and link them (to the master) will it help with
allowing users to update the data by having the new forms based off the new
smaller tables?

Ms-access happy allows the above. You just have users updating the SAME
record.

However, by default, ms-access does allow multi users working on the same
table at the same time....

now, if you are asking if you have too many fields in this table, and should
they be moved out? Well, perhaps yes...but it is a separate question/issue
from the above for the most part....
