Friends,

Our company uses an Access db (.mdb) in a network shared folder. Four
employees use this db. Sometimes two or more employees have no problem
simultaneously sharing access to the db.

However, on an intermittent basis, an employee trying to access the db will
be prevented from doing so, and the following error message appears: "The
databae has been placed in a state by User Admin on machine _____ that
prevents it from being opened."

We have set all Tools/Options to multi-user and record level locking. Why do
we get this error message and how can we prevent it?

Thanks!

Bill Morgan

Hi,

My name is Amy Vargo.  Thank you for using the Microsoft Access Newsgroups.
If you are using Access 2000, you need to make sure all users have Office
2000 SR1 or SR1a applied, as it addresses the issue.

248967 BUG: You receive a "The database has been placed in a state by
user..."
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=248967

I hope this helps!  If you have additional questions on this topic, please
respond back to this posting.

Regards,
