MS Access 2K, Windows XP
=====================
Hi,

I have an Access database on the shared drive, and when I try to open the
databae exclusively, I get the message that it is already being used by
another user, and any changes made won't be permanent.  I've made sure that
there are no other users who have the database open, but there is an LDB file
for the database - which I think is causing the problem.

I've tried to delete the LDB file, but it always reappears.

How do I fix this porblem (so that I can open the database file
exclusively), and what steps can I take to avoid this problem from happening
again?

Thanks!

I am not a specialist in the various operating systems, but in each, there
is some way to delete a file, even if it is flagged as open (which seems to
be the case with your LDB). If all else fails, try deleting it from the DOS
window.

Yes, the ldb file always reappears, and yes, you
need delete permission on the folder, so that it
can be automatically deleted by Access.
