Hello,

I have an access database on a network drive.  I use VPN to connect to my company from home.  I use Remote Desktop Web Connection to connect to the database.  I can't view reports or create and save them because there is no printer installed.  Is there a work around for this?  Since I have to use the VPN, my local printer is not available on my PC.

Thanks,
Linda

Install a printer driver. The driver is all that is required, no physical
printer needs to be actually connected to the PC.

Can't install a printer because I am connecting to a remote printer.  Looks like a call to the IS department is in order.

Thanks,
Linda

Hi Linda,

What kind of Remote Desktop Web Connection do you use? I use WebEx
access anywhere ( http://www.webex.com/go?accessone ) to access work
computer from home and I can do from home whatever I can do on my work
computer.

Thanks,
Jason

Hi Jason,

I have to log on to a Nortel Network Contivity Client Monitor and then use Microsoft Windows Remote Desktop Web Connection.  I'll look at your access program, you can print to your local printer from your work connection?

Linda

You need to ensure that the server has your printer driver installed.

Or, you need to use the SAME driver installed on your server. So, first, a
(default) printer needs to be setup on the server. This will fix the
"preview" problem.

If you actually need to print locally, then you have to ensure that YOUR
printer drivers are installed on the server side also.

. Remote desktop *should* then setup a printer for you that is in fact
local...and you can print locally.

Thanks.  I'll put in a request to have that done and cross my fingers.
