While trying to open the database we are receiving the following error, "Type
Mismatch".  The person who created this database is no longer around and I
have very little access programming knowledge.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hi Kristie,
It could be something as simple as a reference problem.  Can you open the db
while holding down a <SHIFT> key?
