I have been given the assignment at my office to archive articles on varies
subjects and make them available to users.  I would be the only one to manage
the database.  Articles will likely be stored in .pdf format, but would like
to be able to search for articles by author, title, subject and maybe date
(optional).

My gf was recently tasked with a similar job.  She came to me thinking "Access
database/web interface".  After working on it for less than a day they decided
to use MS SharePoint.  My gf thinks it's the absolute bestest thing for document
sharing.  Might work for you too?
