How do you know the user's initials?

Hi

You don't need any macros or code for this (you could use the mid and left
functions but you don't to)

Create a table call tblNames
Initails = Primary field
Name = text

Go to your main table
insert a field called UserName

Next go to your form and open it in design view
Open the tool box
Select Combo Box
Place it somewhere on your form you like
Use the wizard that wll open to select the tblNames as the record source for
the combo
Select Save to UserName field in the wizard
Save and close

Now when you look at the record you will have the initails of the person who
updated the form (if they have used the combo)

Of course if you want to you can force people to update the combo (but you
would need a little code for this).  You cna insert the date it was updated,
etc etc.

Once you have got all this going you can even make a report or when the form
was updated (each time) and who did it - but that will take a little longer
and will need a new tables to store the dates, etc.
